Good Food and Views are Worth the Journey
Before I left for the U.S. earlier this week, I went to check out Capitol Piazza - Singapore's one month old shopping mall located opposite City Hall. There are obviously a lot of places yet to be opened but I think the new restaurants should be welcome additions for those working nearby and tourists staying in the area. Parisian cafe Angelina is already open as is London's Hong Kong style restaurant Four Seasons and food hall Palette that has a variety of local coffeeshop specialties.

Newcomer to Singapore’s tapas dining scene Lollapalooza is a class act. Every course was tasty and nicely cooked while the staff were among the sharpest and most knowledgeable that I’ve encountered in Singapore recently. The Cote d'Azur is much more than just the resort beach towns of Cannes, Nice or St Tropez. So, if you need to escape the hordes, the hills above the shoreline contain scenic medieval hill towns which can be easily visited in a day trip. Must sees here include the towns of St Paul de Vence and Gourdon and Matisse's Chapelle du Rosaire in Vence. The winding roads may also be familiar to 007 movie fans.

I can see myself coming down to the CBD on a weekend just to eat at &Sons, a casual Italian restaurant serving really good quality food at decent prices. While the weekday lunchtime menu is of particularly decent value, we were especially happy with the a la carte pasta and appetisers. Portions are a decent size so that we could share one appetiser among four of us - a great way to try more from the menu.
