Friends often ask me for restaurant recommendations in Tokyo and frankly you can't go wrong, but I would suggest Ushigoro for grilled beef. Jypsy Rolls (and Rocks!)

I wouldn't go to Jypsy for classical Japanese dishes but most definitely for its own take on sashimi and sushi rolls and fantastic chicken karaage.
