Lobster Bobo – Lots More than Lobster

Update: Lobster Bobo has since moved and closed.

Tucked in a non-descript corner in Hong Kong's Sheung Wan area is Lobster Bobo by Eddy where I found really good quality seafood prepared by the former chef of Hong Kong's chief executive. While lobster dishes are a highlight, this casual eatery also does an amazing multi-course tasting menu that changes monthly.

Because of its simple surroundings and plating, I'd describe Lobster Bobo as home cooking if you just...

Medieval Tuscan Highlights – Siena and San Gimignano

Siena's Piazza del Campo

Two of central Tuscany's most popular visits are to Siena and San Gimignano. Both are walled cities with unique landmarks including San Gimignano's towers and Siena's striped cathedral and famous town square. Both are also cities that peaked during the middle ages and which eventually came under Florentine control during the Renaissance.

While we could easily spend more than a day in each city, especially Siena, we dropped in on San Gimignano in the morning and went onto...

PS. Cafe Petit’s Local Goodies

Malaysian-Indonesian fried rice with satay

PS. Cafe Petit at St. Martin Road features some excellent takes on local favourites: Sup Kambing, Prawn Noodle, Rickshaw Noodle, Nasi Goreng among others. My main gripe is probably its downstairs seating which felt bit too spartan.

Boruto is the sister restaurant of Tamashii Robataya (see...

BAM! – This Tapas-Sake Bar is Still a Hit

Steamed egg with fresh crab

At first, a Spanish tapas sake bar seems a bit odd but more than a year on, BAM! remains a hit with chef Pepe Moncayo still serving really good food to go with Sake pairings. Pepe continues to add new dishes, probably best experienced through the omakase menu but favourites are still available. I continue to enjoy visiting once in a while to see what's new and knowing that Pepe's friendly and humble demeanour and good food will not disappoint.

My first visits to BAM! consisted of...
