Casse Croute – French Charcuterie in Singapore

Excellent terrine and pate at Casse Croute in Singapore

Update: Casse Croute has closed but chef Patrick Hueberger is now at Atout, a much more comfortable restaurant in Singapore's Dempsey area. The charcuterie is still good.

It's worth the drive out to Singapore's western suburb to find homemade rillettes, the most amazing lamb sausage I've had in a while, and other typical french charcuterie items. Casse Croute is the new baby of Chef Patrick Hueberger, formerly of Au Petit Salut and Bistro du Sommelier in Singapore. Limited...

Capitol Piazza – New Mall in Singapore’s City Centre

Capitol Theatre

Before I left for the U.S. earlier this week, I went to check out Capitol Piazza - Singapore's one month old shopping mall located opposite City Hall. There are obviously a lot of places yet to be opened but I think the new restaurants should be welcome additions for those working nearby and tourists staying in the area. Lollapalooza – Concert for the Taste Buds

Singapore tapas

Update: Lollapalooza has closed.

&Sons – The Right Formula of Quick Bites in the CBD

&Sons bacaro

I can see myself coming down to the CBD on a weekend just to  eat at &Sons, a casual Italian restaurant serving really good quality food at decent prices. While the weekday lunchtime menu is of particularly decent value, we were especially happy with the a la carte pasta and appetisers. Portions are a decent size so that we could share one appetiser among four of us - a great way to try more from the menu.

&Sons refer to themselves as a "bacaro" - a name normally linked to...

Chalk Farm – Let Them Eat Cake!

Paragon cakes

If you're shopping in Orchard Road and need a tea break, or more appropriately - a cake break, then do drop by Chalk Farm. Located in the basement of the Paragon shopping mall, most of the cakes at this little store are really good. There are a couple bar seats on the side and they do coffee too. My personal faves are the Guinness cake, Coffee Walnut cake, Black & Gold Sesame cake, Banana Muscovado Loaf and for something more local - the Kueh Salaat.  Also, their occasional cakes...
