Our B&amp;B hostess recommended we visit this alpine lake given its easy access and knowing that rain would keep us from doing longer walks. So even though I&#8217;m sure the place would be stunning on a clear day, the mist and drizzle didn&#8217;t make the views any less spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>Also known as the &#8220;Pearl of the Dolomites&#8221;, Lago di Braies is located around a 45 minute drive north of Cortina. There is a large carpark and the absence of having to climb up through winding roads makes this a popular stop for visitors. So I&#8217;m sure during the peak summer season, the area can get busy. Even though we were there in the off season and during poor weather, the place was still busier than any of the hiking areas we had been to. Another reason for the popularity besides the scenery is the relatively easy walk around, which\u00a0only takes about 60-90 minutes. Alas, we didn&#8217;t go all the way around because our our short schedule.
